A Holistic Approach to Autism and Intellectual Disability Care

Our approach is based on the fundamental principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Over the past 40 years, an extensive body of literature has documented the successful use of ABA-based procedures to reduce problem behavior and increase appropriate skills for individuals with intellectual disabilities (ID), autism, and related disorders.

One of the hallmark characteristics of Applied Behavior Analysis is its reliance on scientifically-validated treatments. In addition, there are a number of scientific values that permeate the application of ABA intervention for individuals with autism.

There is a focus on empiricism, on demonstrating the effectiveness of procedures and on the identification of functional relationships between treatments and effects.

Riverside has been committed to helping families since 1995.

Our employee's training goes above and beyond the required twelve hours per year. Employees are assigned training pertinent to their need areas and often triple the minimum required hours. Each employee is observed a minimum of one time per month while conducting therapy and given feedback to help them become more effective therapists.

Experience

Our clinical supervisors and BCBA have a combination of over 50 years of experience working with children and adults who have the diagnoses of intellectual disabilities and autism.

Respect

Our attitude toward the children we serve, their parents, other
professionals and caretakers is unmatched. We treat each other and all team members with dignity and respect.

Whole-Child Approach

We use a team approach and collaborate with medical providers, school personnel, and other therapists to maximize leaning and progress.

Motivation and Reinforcement

Key to a child's ability to learn is whether they are motivated. Children find our approach reinforcing and respond well to our style of interaction.

Research

We remain current in our practice by reading current research literature, and attending webinars and conferences. We only use evidenced based strategies that are consistently researched in peer reviewed journals.
